Deckorators Traditional & Architectural Baluster Installation Instructions

Installing Traditional/Architectural Balusters

If your having your deck built or doing it yourself, deck building requires planning and forethought. Even the best deck plans can get off to a bad start if you don’t understand how your deck construction components fit together. Three easy steps can get your deck rail up and looking good within just a few moments. Check your supply of 2 x 4 lumber and manufactured aluminum Deckorators Classic or Colonial balusters and connectors needed to start assembling your deck rails.

STEP 1 - Measure & Cut
Measure deck railing openings from post to post to determine the length of each baluster rail section. Cut top and bottom rails to length from your 2 x 4 lumber.
STEP 2 - Assembly
Choose a spacer guide, such as a 2 x 4 turned on its side, mark top and bottom rails to consistent spacing over the length of the railing.
Use a cordless drill to attach Deckorators balusters to the outside of the deck railing. The matching stainless steel screws are provided to attach to the top and bottom rails.
Check baluster placement for proper spacing and appearance and attach a rail cap for a finished look.
