Federal Ipe Post Cap:
- Fits post size 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" (4x4 nominal) through 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" (6x6 nominal)
- We can make custom fit caps at no additional charge for any size in between 3-1/2" to 5-1/2". Just order the next largest size up, and put a note in the comments section during checkout what the actual post size is. We will add 1/8" to the opening to allow the cap to slip over the post.
- Molding depth 1-5/8"
**Please note: Due to the nature of Ipe wood, these caps are treated with a wax coating prior to shipping. This coating helps protect the cap from cracking or curling in direct sun exposure. The wax does alter the appearance of the wood finish (see photo below). The caps will not change color with wax applied. Wax should be reapplied every 6 months for longest life (we use Iron Woods End Sealer). If you do not want the wax coating applied to your caps, please specify ***NO WAX*** in the comments section of your order during checkout. Please note that if we do not apply wax, we can not offer warranty on the caps.

How to choose the correct Ipe Post Cap size:
Nantucket Post Caps are sized according to the actual physical measurement of your post. All post caps are made 1/8" larger on the opening then the actual post size you specify. For example, if your 4x4 standard post truly measures 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", then you would choose that size and your cap would come with an inside measurement of 3-5/8" x 3-5/8".
